Madekwe is from a multi-cultural household. Her birthplace was in South London. Both her parents have both been English. She was born in the southern part of London Council Estate, and then was a student at The Brit School aged 14. In London, she studied at The Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in which her acting diploma was obtained. She appeared on stage in many productions while attending school including the role of King Henry V, as Princess Katherine, and Wuthering Heights, as Catherine Earnshaw.
Madekwe started acting in Storm Damage. Over the past few years Madekwe's appearance in Teachers as well as Doctors. Madekwe's debut film appearance was in Woody Allen's 2007 Cassandra's Dream opposite Colin Farrell, Ewan McGregor. Madekwe had her official US debut on the drama The Beautiful Life, which was only broadcast in the US on The CW before being cancelled. Ashley Davenport appeared in ABC drama Revenge from February 2011. Madekwe had appeared in all episodes in the series' initial two seasons as an regular. However, in May of 2013, it was announced that word broke that the actress would quit the show due to her appearance as a guest on the opening episode for its third season. She starred as Tituba in the TV show Salem from 2014 to the year 2016. Madekwe, her long-time companion, Iddo, married Madekwe in June 2012. Ashley Leggat, an actress who was twice nominated for a Gemini Award, hails from a large Hamilton family. Ashley Leggat was a part of Roy and Patty along with her three older siblings, Brett, Todd and Bram and Rob. All of her brothers were athletic and played baseball and hockey in the winter as well as in the summer. Her childhood was spent in the arenas and baseball. Ashley was never a walker, she danced, so at age just two years old, she took up Baby Ballet -and she fell in love. Ashley became passionate about dance following this. Ashley participated in the top divisions of tap, jazz ballet, hip hop, lyrical musical theatre, acrobatics and pointe, until she finished in high school. She won the top soloist awards at all of the most prestigious dance competitions like, International Dance Challenge, Showstoppers, 5-6-7-8 Showtime, Flash Dance, and Dance, Dance, Dance to name a few.
